ぼくせき【木石】

〔木と石〕 trees and stones; 〔非生命体〕 inanimate objects; sticks and stones; 〔人情のわからない者〕 ⇒ぼくせきかん.

●木石に等しい have no more feeling than a stone; be lost to sense

・人木石にあらず. Man is a sentient being.

●木石の配置 arrangement of trees and stones [rockwork]

・木石のごとき 〔無感覚な〕 unimpressionable; insensible; unsusceptible; impassive; callous

・木石のごとき人 ＝ぼくせきかん.

●私だって木石ではない. I am not a stick nor a stone. | I am made of flesh and blood.
